The mission of FIRST® is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

FIRST Robotics Competition is varsity Sport for the Mind™ combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. It’s as close to “real-world” engineering as a student can Team 3489: Category 5 has been an established FRC team for seven consecutive years. For three of those seven years our team made it to the World Championships. Under strict rules and limited time/resources, FIRST teams are challenged to raise funds, design a brand, gain teamwork skills, and get workforce experience. Our team designs, builds, and programs industrial sized robotics to play in difficult field games against competitors.
The 2019 season, FRC will reach 7,331 teams of more that 91,000 youth team members with a global representation. FRC teams participate in Regional Competitions, FRC District Competitions to earning their way to the FIRST World Championship in Houston, TX or Detroit, MI. Students get to: Learn from professional engineers Build and compete with a robot of their own design Learn and use sophisticated software and hardware Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments Earn a place in the World Championship Qualify for over $20 million in college scholarships
